RESPONSIBILITIES
As a temporary employee within the Education sector in Gävle, you will have a varied workplace where you work with children and young people in adapted schools.
The working hours as a substitute can vary from day to day as you work when the organization has a need. Some weeks you may work a lot while other weeks it may be less. We expect you to be available to work at least 50% of full-time. The more you can work with us, the better.
Working as a substitute in adapted schools requires great flexibility as you often receive your exact working hours on the same day you are to work. You need to be prepared to travel to adapted schools throughout Gävle municipality, but we will work to achieve as high a degree of continuity as possible, and you will primarily work at a smaller number of adapted schools.
As a temporary employee, you primarily support during the absence of regular staff but also during temporarily high workloads. You step in when needed and get the chance to work with varied tasks in different units.
QUALIFICATIONS
To work as a teaching assistant in an adapted school, you need to be able to provide support to one or more students so that they can benefit from the education. This may involve supporting a student with reading and writing difficulties, concentration difficulties, psychosocial challenges, or various types of disabilities. You may also need to assist with practical tasks during the school day, provide structure and predictability, and adapt activities so that the student can participate according to their abilities.
We are looking for someone who has:
- completed upper secondary education or equivalent training
- good language skills in Swedish
- the ability to work at least 50%
It is an advantage for the position if you have a pedagogical education that the employer assesses as relevant to the position, as well as professional experience working with children and young people with disabilities and variations in function.
To succeed in the role, you are:

- Relationship-building: you easily build positive and trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians
- Coaching: you encourage, motivate, and support students in their development based on their individual circumstances.
